It became a member of the Federation of Philippine Montessori Schools, Inc. headed by its President, Ambassador Preciosa S. Soliven Ed. D. on March 17, 2005.

The school first offered Toddler, Nursery, Kinder I and Kinder II programs in 2000. To date, MARIA MONTESSORI offers complete pre-school and elementary levels. From 2000 t0 2005, they have rented a school building along Tomas Saco street in Cagayan de Oro City. In 2006, they have transferred to its newly constructed school facility located in Biasong, Macasandig, Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines. The new school site is situated in a quiet, clean and green environment which is most conducive to learning.

The curriculum of the MARIA MONTESSORI Child Development Center fully adopts the Montessori system of education guided with the backbone principles of learning in a prepared environment and the application of sensorial training educational materials. These cultivate the innate curiosity of the child through self-initiated activities.

The core curriculum is value-based: it is called the "curriculum of love" balanced with interdependence, discipline and self-direction. The learning process is tailored according to each child's learning pace, nature, maturity, needs and interest.

The Founder and School Directress, Mrs. Lilia B. Ragay, finished her Masters in Montessori Education from the University of San Carlos, Cebu City. She underwent extensive training programs with the American Montessori Society, Japan Association of Montessori (JAM) and the Australian Montessori.
